I would consider myself a devoted fan and can think of several other albums I'd play first before 2112.

I think I'm pretty dedicated, but for long songs I'll take Hemispheres over 2112. But 2112 is pretty darned good.

This was the first Rush album I bought on release. I was disappointed at the time, as many were, that it was so synth driven. After listening to it today, I don't think that is fair. There are some great song on here, and the juxtaposition of synth and guitars is as good as on other albums.

Bravest Face sucks but Ive never gotten the derision GNF has received. I also like Dog Years and Virtuality.
BF is almost as bad as Wish Them well.

Different mix of that show on the deluxe edition too, but it is the full show.

Different Stages appears to have become the oddest of Rush releases. out of print on CD and now the only album (not counting R40) not to have seen a vinyl issue.

I wonder if there is some kind of strange rights issue with that.

The one that causes me physical pain to listen to is Landover, MD from that year. Geddy sounds horrible because of that cold and you really feel for him as he's really gutting it out. Heartbreaking to listen to his voice on that.

Recorded in 1981. Premiered in February of 1982 on MTV and later released on video in 1985 (I think.) Was the main source for all of those early '80s Rush King Biscuit Flower Hour Radio Shows.

I dont know why. Its one of those things you realize once you get on the internet. ;)

Its like when I first started checking out Dream Theater. The first one I really liked was Systematic Chaos. Then I find out on the internet that everyone pretty much hates it. Lol

Bravest Face is definitely one of Neil's very rare lyrical dogs, for me. "In the strongest man there's a child so weak" etc... he was capable of better.
Snakes & Arrows is a pretty front-loaded album anyway.

I actually think Good News First and Bravest Face are two of the best songs from Snakes & Arrows, along with Armor and Sword and The Larger Bowl.

Despite the lyrical misstep by Neil, I loved that song when TFE was first out. I still like it, but not quite as much as I did at first.

I generally don't let the Internet influence what I might like or dislike. That said, I think the Internet probably got it right with Systematic Chaos. I didn't realize the Internet felt that way!
