The thread title is self-explanatory, but feel free to imagine what said solo album would have sounded like or what you would want it to sound like. I'll start:

Terry Kath (from Chicago) - I would have loved an album of hard rock guitar jams.

All the musicians I like who were in bands all have had solo albums, so
    I got nothing.

Hmmmm, perhaps an Eddie Van Halen solo instrumental album?

    Shirley Manson, post-Garbage.

kind of amazing that it didn't happen given how these things usually go ..... (see Gwen Stefani, etc.)

yes, I'm aware of the shelved project from 2008/09
and that Angelfish (pre-Garbage) is kind of a "solo" thing but not really.

I know he's made solo albums . I'd like a good solo album.

    Beautiful pianist. Unusually so, imo.
He would have made a great solo album.

The Edge. I always thought him and Eno could have produced something interesting

    Angus Young ?

can only wonder what he might come up with if he decided to not be AC/DC.

A blues album by Angus could be cool.

In his prime, I think that Eric Bloom of Blue Oyster Cult could have done a great solo album.

Two members of Zappa’s band come to mind:

    Ian Underwood
Ike Willis (kinda surprised that he never did one)

Along with Mark Hollis (had solo album)
Would have made a great record together.

    To hell with it then.

No, it would've been crap anyway.

    Tom Petty

Yes, I know that there are three albums credited as Tom Petty solo albums, however I'm referring to a true solo album with just Tom and his guitar in the vein of what Springsteen did (plus of course pre-electric Dylan, among others).

Post-Garbage o_O ...but, Garbage are still recording. There were some years Shirley acted in the interim, but they're still recording.
The last release was 2016 Strange Little Birds & they've been @ work on the next album; thought it would be out this year, but looking hopeful for 2021.

Another one I just thought of. Like Kath, this could have been killer but, tragically, we’ll never know:

    Duane Allman

(Though I’m not quite sure about his songwriting skills. My guess is that he would have needed some real collaboration help in that area, unless it were an instrumental or straight blues album).

He was working on a solo album, sans brass, when he died

  24. This - although I’d like to hear a truly solo album, like 12 Pieces For Solo Electric Guitar. Sometimes I prefer to listen to the isolated guitar tracks of VH songs than the whole complete song.

Ike had an album called Shoulda Gone Before I Left in the 80's. I think some others after that too.
