    The Bee Gees
    Moody Blues

The latter two didn't really show up until '67 (although both were active earlier). To include them means including their good work into the '70s, particularly the Moodies.

To leave out the Bee Gees and the Moody Blues would mean adding two of these three:

    The Kinks
    The Hollies
    The Who

Then rounding out my own top ten:

    The Dave Clark Five
    Gerry & The Pacemakers

I'd love to have found a place for Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich but it just wasn't on. Maybe the tide will turn one day ...

I simply can’t limit it to just five bands.

    The Beatles
    The Rolling Stones
    The Who
    Fairport Convention
    The Kinks
    Jimi Hendrix Experience
    Traffic
    Cream
    Incredible String Band
    Procol Harum
    PG’s Fleetwood Mac
    Them
    The Animals
    Pentangle

Of course, that doesn’t include solo artists like Donovan or the other bands that I enjoyed a lot.

Whoops just saw British Bands, so need to Re-Edit my Post.

    The Kinks
    The Rolling Stones
    The Beatles
    Cream
    The Moody Blues

*I love The Who, but not much from the '60s, so only starting with 'Tommy' and mostly The Lifehouse Project Music and everything from 'Who's Next, 'Quadrophenia',(2 of my All Time Favorite Rock Albums) and also 'Who by Numbers' and 'Who's Next'.

If I could Pick 7 Songs:

'Sympathy For The Devil'-The Rolling Stones
    'Gimmie Shelter'-The Rolling Stones
'You Can't Always Get What You Want'-The Rolling Stones
'Nights In White Satin'-The Moody Blues
    'Eleanor Rigby'-The Beatles
    'Strawberry Fields Forever'-The Beatles
    'White Room'-Cream

I don't like to do favorite bands really and then such a small number of them makes it hard.

    The Stones
    The Small Faces
    The Moody Blues
    The Yardbirds
    The Kinks

Without going through this thread I would say the top five will be

    #1 The Kinks
    #2 The Stones
    #3 The Beatles
    #4 The Small Faces
#5 Procol Harum or The Moody blues

The concert I posted in post #218 has the Kinks headlining in 65 even though the Beatles took the top award for the show. These concerts where called New Musical Express

British music journalism website and former magazine that has been published since 1952. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, in the edition of 14 November 1952. In the 1970s, it became the best-selling British music newspaper.
