Well, either their best or one of their best albums; one fantastically put together, well mastered, or otherwise one to have in our collection. The Doors is one example that, had I not a few albums already, 'Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine' is one fantastic collection that, should one have to pick just one album of a band, I'd recommend that one.

Anyone knows more examples of this?

Nicely (re)mixed; excellent track sequencing; each side it’s own journey; the best of the Core 7!

Not bands, but two artists I put into that category.

I would honestly say Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) is better than Hotel California. There isn't any overlap in songs, so both are essential. But I also think Desperado is better than both. Hotel California is great, but, it's a both preachy and narcissistic at the same time. So it's a conflict of hypocrisy. This both the albums strength and it's weakness.

Don't know about that. Sly & the Family Stone have a few great albums (Stand, Riot & Fresh are essential) but that compilation is perfect.
