  1. OldSoul liked MHP's post in the thread Why did the Rolling Stones never have those one or two huge albums?.

Why does it always have to be money that’s the driving force? Artists keep making music because it’s their PASSION. If your argument was the case, then why did Fleetwood Mac, McCartney, Bowie or Elton John keep making records? They had enough...

They are indeed. But they do also sell out and then find more stock or have something returned from another store... the parent company here is Alliance, the biggest distributor there is. At least some of these Bin titles are things that they got...

Its the same place. If it shows sold out at one, it might still look like it’s in stock at the other. But they are both drawing from the same inventory so once one site says it’s gone, it’ll be gone from the other too even if it looks like you...

Mine arrived today, it's a thing of beauty! Mind-boggling deal, really. Puzzlingly, my Gruff Rhys LP has shipped after I reordered it following their cancellation. I think they are a bit shonky at keeping track of what's in stock.

  5. Thievius replied to the thread POLL: When you play music, what typically drives the selection?.

I answered "other" because it varies depending on my mood. Though most of the time its a desire to hear a specific album. But sometimes I just want to hear (say) The Doors and then I'll decide which album to listen to.

  8. OldSoul liked SRC's post in the thread Why did the Rolling Stones never have those one or two huge albums?.

Queen is a special case because, the U.S. numbers you quoted aside, Queen has been far more popular around the world than The Rolling Stones. Queen has two of the top sixty best selling albums ever in the U.K. The Rolling Stones have zero in...

  9. Earscape liked CHIP72's post in the thread POLL: Who was the best US 70's Punk Band.

I voted for the Ramones and Television, but I'll note the Stooges were around in the early 1970s. ;)

  10. Earscape liked Spy Car's post in the thread POLL: Who was the best US 70's Punk Band.

Yes, absolutely. For example, Elvis Costello's My Aim is True dropped in 1977, as did the Talking Heads '77. Are We Not Men? We Are Devo! came out the next year as did Parallel Lines (Blonde) to just name a few seminal New Wave albums. In my...

Ramones, no question. I would also have voted for Iggy and the Stooges except they weren't on the poll.

  12. Earscape replied to the thread Any fans of Bad Brains here?.

I have a patchy liking for the band. I think the Black Dots album is great, and I like this video of Bad Brains doing Banned in DC at CBGBs, which is a classic punk gig experience: [MEDIA] However, I have to admit I'm not too keen on their...

  14. DHamilton liked ozeskiman's post in the thread Rolling Stones half speed masters available for presale .....

I just got my half speed of Sticky Fingers. It's ok, similar to the double LP version from a few years back. But no comparison to my original 1972 Japanese Warner's pressing. That is the ultimate pressing IMO. Bought it new and love it.
